About us

Welcome to the Triangle Program!
The Triangle Program is one of three classrooms that make up Oasis Alternative Secondary School. This full-time program offers you the structure and support you will need to work together with other gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender students and those affected by homophobia.
In the afternoons, you will be studying English, Science, Computer Science, Social Studies, and Personal Life Management in group classes of three week units adapted to address the interests, concerns, literature, and history of the lesbigay and transgender communities.
In the mornings, you will have the opportunity to work both in groups and independently, at your own pace, with teacher and volunteer assistance in order to complete your high school credits. All units of study are presented as quarter and half credit modules so that even if you register late or decide to leave the program, you can accumulate partial credits throughout the school year.
All new students to the Triangle Program are on an initial FOUR-WEEK TRIAL PERIOD. During this time your attendance and work progress are monitored to insure that the Triangle Program is an appropriate setting for you both personally and academically.
Daily schedule
The classroom is open for personal study every day at 9:00 a.m. Classes begin punctually at 9:30 am and the school day ends at 3:30 pm. The Triangle Program is able to offer students a nutritious meal every day at lunch. Community volunteers prepare lunch, which always includes a vegetarian option. The opportunity to “break bread” with each other serves as a way to bring the Triangle community together.
Attendance
Attendance is important and is recorded for every class and monitored regularly by the teachers and the social worker. We?ve found that to be successful students need to attend regularly.
The attendance requirement is 80% as measured over the trial period and the duration of the quarter units. Legitimate absences, with notification BY NOTE prior to absence will not be counted. Two lates (exceeding fifteen minutes) are considered an absence. All absences must still be accounted for by telephone message or by note. UNACCOUNTED ABSENCES ARE GROUNDS FOR DISMISSAL.
Student attendance is kept in the attendance booklet and may be seen by students at any time. If a student does not maintain their attendance at 80%, they risk losing their place at the Triangle Program.
Triangle Program School Council
The Triangle Program School Council is an active council that focuses on many of the behind the scenes issues needed to support the Triangle Program itself and the students in it.
