At the Triangle Program, community volunteers have always been the foundation that have given our youth a nutrition program, academic tutors and exposure to our community and the opportunities out there for them.
There are three areas that we are always needing your support for:
Math Tutors
Many of our students stopped attending school regularly at an early age due to homophobia and transphobia. Due to that disconnect, many of our youth have huge gaps in their numeracy skills. We need math tutors so that our youth get more one on one support to enable them to be successful in mathematics. Most of the tutoring support is required at the Grade 9-10 levels and the Grade 11 essential levels. We ask our math tutors to commit to one morning a week from 9:30am to 12:00pm and we encourage them to stay and enjoy lunch with staff and students.

Lunch Cooks
We provide a nutrition program for our youth as many of them do not have the means to eat healthy and nutritious meals. Our lunch and breakfast programs remove the hunger barrier so that school can be a priority for our students. We ask our volunteer cooks to commit to one lunch a week and bring in the groceries required. The Triangle Program will reimburse you for all food costs and will cleanup after you.
Contact us if you are interested and we will put you intouch with our coordinator.
Guest Speakers and Facilitators
We are always looking to bring in guest speakers and facilitators for all our courses. We are especially interested in people that do outreach, wellness education and community activism, but we have had wonderful experiences with people that have done technology, science, history and drama workshops with our youth.
Contact us if you are interested. Note that since we plan many of our courses in the previous year, don’t be offended if we cannot fit you into the current school year. Knowing that you want to get involved will help us plan for the following school year.
